Maús Castle (also known as Mauz Castle or Sueras Castle) stands on the hill known as Sueras Altas, in the municipality of Sueras, comarca of Plana Baixa, province of Castellón. It is situated approximately 3 kilometres from Sueras town centre and dominates from its watchtower the entire valley that runs at its feet, at an altitude of approximately 582 metres above sea level.

The fortress originates from the Arab period, with its construction dating from the 12th century, as do the other castles in the Espadán mountain range. It served a defensive and territorial surveillance function during the Andalusí period, controlling access to the Sueras valley and the Espadán mountain range. Following the Christian conquest, the site was progressively abandoned.

Currently the castle is in a state of ruins, although it retains architecturally interesting remains. In recent years a budget of 150,000 euros was approved for its consolidation and archaeological work in the access area, reflecting institutional recognition of its heritage value within the Espadán mountain range.

The most common access is from the municipality of Sueras via hiking routes that depart from the village laundries or from Font de Castro. The natural surroundings are integrated into the Espadán Mountain Range Natural Park, with a landscape of Mediterranean forests that enhance the appeal of a visit.

A notable feature of the site is the nearby presence of Cova de Mahoma, another historical and legendary reference linked to the Arab period in the area, which is usually included in the hiking routes that visit the castle.
