The Castillo de Benalí is located in the municipality of Ahín (Aín), in the province of Castellón. It is a medieval fortification of Muslim origin and mountain castle typology, situated in an elevated position that gave it a marked defensive character and control of the surrounding territory.

The fortress has roots in the Andalusian period, and its name also appears under the variants Benlí and other dialectal forms. Following the Christian conquest, the castle maintained its strategic relevance in the region, being used as a refuge during the Morisco uprisings prior to the expulsion decreed in 1609, becoming one of the focal points of resistance for the Morisco population that refused to abandon their lands.

The ensemble is classified within the category of medieval castles and fortresses, with reference code CS-CAS-082 in the Castillosnet catalogue. It has been declared a Cultural Interest Asset, a recognition that underscores its heritage value within the defensive architectural heritage of the Valencian Community.

The castle is also known as Castillo de Aín, a denomination that reflects its direct connection with the municipality. The hiking route that leads to it runs through the Barranc de la Caritat and allows access to the fortress remains from the urban centre of Aín, also offering panoramic views of the natural surroundings of the sierra.

The current state of the construction corresponds to that of a consolidated ruin, a common characteristic of medieval mountain fortifications in the interior of Castellón. Access is on foot via a footpath, which makes it a frequent destination for hikers interested in the combination of historical heritage and natural landscape.
