The parish church of Saint Vincent Ferrer, located in Plaza del Fadrell in Castellón de la Plana, is considered the oldest temple in the city. Its history dates back to 1579, when it was founded as a church of the Dominican friars' convent, the order to which the Valencian saint after whom it is named belonged.

Following disamortisation and the suppression of religious orders in the nineteenth century, the Dominican convent ceased to function as such and the temple came to be used by the Casa de Beneficencia, an institution placed under the care of the Sisters of Charity. This period marked a transformation in the use of the building, which ceased to be a purely conventual space and became an welfare centre with a chapel.

Currently the temple functions as an active parish in the Fadrell neighbourhood, one of the historic cores of Castellón de la Plana. Its dedication to Saint Vincent Ferrer connects the building with devotion to the patron saint of the Valencian Community, a Dominican born in Valencia in 1350 and canonised in the fifteenth century by Pope Callixtus III.

The building is located in the comarca of Plana Alta, within the municipality of Castellón de la Plana. Plaza del Fadrell, where it stands, retains part of the historic character of the neighbourhood of the same name, one of the most traditional areas of the city.

The ensemble constitutes a testament to the religious and conventual heritage of Castellón, and its age—more than four centuries—distinguishes it as a historic landmark within the ecclesiastical map of the capital of Plana Alta.
