The Desert de les Palmes Natural Park is a protected natural area located in the province of Castellón that extends across five municipalities: Benicàssim, Cabanes, La Pobla Tornesa, Borriol and Castelló de la Plana. The presence of rodeno soils allows for the existence of cork oaks and holm oaks, although their presence is now scarce due to fires and agricultural transformations. The park offers spectacular landscapes, hiking routes and panoramic views of the Mediterranean coast.

The area was declared a natural park in 1989, making it one of the oldest in the Valencian Community. Its protected area covers approximately 3,200 hectares, where fires have left a visible mark on the landscape over the decades.

In addition to its natural value, the Desert de les Palmes is home to historical and cultural heritage of significance. The Carmelite order has a presence within the park, whose convent is one of the most recognisable heritage elements of the whole.
